Something Glam

About the brand:

Something Glam is a brand that inspires to deliver beautiful quality clothing, for an affordable price to feminine, budget-conscious young women. The aim of the brand is to be relatable, attainable, and reliable – a fun, yet trustworthy place for young women to shop. A rare oasis of affordable, good quality garments, amidst a sea of poor quality fast-fashion and poor-quality customer service.

The brand design process:

The brand design process:

We designed a really simple colour scheme of two hues of complimentary pale pastel pink and black – this scheme underpins all the content on the site. It was chosen to emulate the playful and youthful glamour of the brand’s target audience. The site uses lots of visual content framing – for instance. strong (often textured) borders, and simple illustrated graphics are used to draw customers’ eyes to the content in a fun and captivating way, which in turn enhances the user experience.

Services that were used:

All of the content in this project has been created by our team of professionals. This project had a strong focus on our product photography and branding services.

Brand is at the heart of this site, when designing the site, we wanted to bring the brand to life in a fun and creative way - whilst ensuring that it was still heavily focused on conversion and user ease. The site consists of a simple homepage, featuring a mixture of graphically illustrated sales banners, and a series of images that showcase collections that are featured in the Something Glam collection. Custom CSS has been used to add borders for visual emphasis.

The navigation of the site features four collapsible mega menus – which each contain links to an array of different shopping collections… The customer can shop by clothing type, what’s new (e.g. back in stock), item style, brand and sale category – as well as explore the FAQ ‘help centre’ which contains a series of easily accessible pre-purchase information. The mega menu’s all feature simple imagery/ graphics to draw further attention to products/ collections. Above the navigation bar, there is also a clickable Something Glam logo that takes the user back to the homepage. Throughout the site breadcrumbs are used for easy navigation.

Collection pages have been designed with advanced product filtering, users can use the custom-built tag filter to search for items in a number of ways (including size, colour and material type). The collection pages also contain secondary media on hover, which allows customers to view the products in an interactive way.

Custom made product pages are configured for image scrolling – which means that products are presented to users in a way that showcases the products and puts all the focus on the images, whilst still presenting the user with any useful text information. Product pages also contain colour swatches, size guide, split tabs of useful product information, and a series of collection tags – to pinpoint users to alternative collections. Custom made black hearts are also used to heighten brand experience.

Backend data (including inventory, sales and product information) domains’ and URL’s were exported from the store’s previous Shopify store to the new store. All product images and written content was then uploaded. Every page contains alt-text, SEO optimised image titles, and relevant Meta descriptions. Keyword research has been carried out for each product description, and text and image field on the website.

We designed and came up with the branding for the site, including; the logo, colour scheme, photography, brand voice, visual themes, and written content. We also designed bespoke postage bags and other print media for the brand.

Product photography: All photos on the site have been either taken by us or provided by wholesalers and edited by us, each product photo contains the necessary alt-tag and meta data for SEO rankings. Each image has been professionally aligned and edited using photoshop and lightroom. Individual backgrounds have been removed and a standard professional light grey background has been added to all images to provide a fresh professional feel. We have also carried out additional graphic design to some images (vector-based 2d backgrounds) to add product interest. The site also contains some lifestyle shots that have been taken by us – showcasing products in more creative settings (e.g., outside).

A variety of graphic design services have been used in the completion of this website – from logo design and typography - to carefully curated banners, backgrounds and specially created images using Illustrator.

All the written content on this site (everything from detailed product information to the creative brand story) has been specially created by our team using the necessary high-performance, SEO boosting research techniques. All content has been designed with the end-user mind. We want to provide the necessary pre-purchase information to them in a fun and engaging way.

''This site presents its content in a fun and fresh way. Don't be fooled by it's perceived simpleness - this site pushed our designers to new limits in their pursuit of finding new and exciting ways to bring a brand-to-life.''

- Alannah, Head of the project
